Excellent piece, as usual. I used to hold closer to Calvin's position but by reading Bruce Gordon I have become more sympathetic to the Zwinglian one, though I am not a pure memorialist. I think Calvin's honest quote in the Institutes that he does not know how Christ is truly present in this memorial meal of the New Covenant describes my position best. God is With us truly through grace and received by faith in thanksgiving.
Are you familiar with James Arcadi's book "An Incarnational Model of the Eucharist"?
He has a really excellent breakdown of these differences, but also offers a particularly compelling (at least to me) argument for a way to understand it in conjunction with the Incarnation.
