Apologies for the appalling late post this week - the week has rather gotten away from me. But perhaps it gives you a chance to reflect on last Sunday’s readings as you prepare for worship this Sunday…

With this week’s readings, we move into the second half of the season of Lent. And as we move into this second half, I think we see a shift in our lessons, above all in the Epistle readings. After a consistent focus on the works of penitence and sanctification we perform by the Spirit’s power in the first three weeks, our bearing of the crosses God gives us, we now turn to the Cross — to God’s mighty act to save us in Christ Jesus which undergirds our life of grateful repentance.
