A hearty apology for allowing this lectionary commentary to fall into abeyance over the summer! I am glad to restart it, however, and I do have ambitions of going and filling in the weeks missed over the last few months.
The readings for the 11th Sunday after Trinity are, I think, a particularly auspicious set of readings with which to restart this commentary, for they are perfectly chosen to direct our attention to the glorious good news of our salvation in Christ. The commentary to follow is largely based on my preparatory work for a sermon I preached yesterday on these texts at Briarwood Presbyterian Church, Beaconsfield, Quebec.
